CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The moment love has spoken, the defilement is simply gone, without process or delay. What the mind took for a deep and spreading corruption of itself turns out to have no substance the instant it is looked upon without condemnation. Guilt seems permanent only while it is believed; met by a love that never accepted it, it departs as quickly as a shadow when the light is turned on.
This is the speed of forgiveness. It does not slowly repair a real wound; it reveals that the wound was never in the mind God created. To be cleansed is to discover that innocence was the truth all along, and that the long sickness was only a belief the mind was finally willing to set down.
Leprosy: the belief in guilt seen as a defilement of the self, the imagined corruption that vanishes at once when the mind is looked upon without condemnation
Christian Psychology lens
What would today feel like if the thing you cannot forgive yourself for were already gone?
Two monks argue over a flag moving in the wind. The master says it is neither the wind nor the flag, it is your mind that moves. What seemed a solid fact outside turns out to be something you were holding.
The rope on the dark path looked like a snake and your heart raced for real, but when the light came the snake did not run away. It was never there to leave.
