Mark 11:17 Meaning He Taught

He taught, saying to them, “Isn’t it written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations?’ But you have made it a den of robbers!”

What does Mark 11:17 mean?

The mind was created as a house of prayer, a single dwelling open to every brother without exception, for love draws no borders and shuts no one out. Yet the ego has turned this openness into a hiding place, a den where stolen things are kept.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The mind was created as a house of prayer, a single dwelling open to every brother without exception, for love draws no borders and shuts no one out. Yet the ego has turned this openness into a hiding place, a den where stolen things are kept. What has been stolen is the innocence the mind took from others in judgment, hoarding grievances as if they were treasure. A house meant to welcome all nations became a shelter for the belief that some deserve attack. The correction is to remember what the mind is for, a place of joining and not of hiding, where prayer is simply the willingness to see everyone as one.

What is called robbery here is only the taking back of what forgiveness would freely give away. When the hoard is released, the walls fall open and the house is a house of prayer again.

House: the mind as it was created, a single dwelling meant to hold every brother without exclusion Den of thieves: the mind turned into a hiding place for stolen innocence, where grievances are stored like plunder and the door is barred against love

  1. Think of the grievance you replay most, the one you are almost fond of. Set it down for one hour today and see who you are without it.
  2. Send a normal, friendly message to someone you have quietly filed under difficult. No big reconciliation, just a door left unlocked.
  3. When someone cuts you off in traffic or takes a shot at you in a thread, let the first reply go unsent. Not because they were right, but because you would rather not keep the thing.

What am I holding on to because it still feels like proof?
