The colt no man has ridden is a state never yet assumed, a fresh possibility standing ready and only waiting to be claimed. To loose it and bring it is to take up the feeling of the wish already fulfilled and make it one's own. The village lying just across the way is the near country of the mind, close enough to enter at once, where every desired state is already tethered and available.
That the animal is tied means the state is fixed and waiting before the man reaches it, not something he must invent. He does not build the colt. He unties what is already there and rides it. To pray in this manner is to enter the state of the answered wish and assume it as present. The desire that felt distant is found waiting to be brought home.
