Mark 14:8 Meaning She Has Done What She Could

She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying.

What does Mark 14:8 mean?

She has done what she could, and that is the whole of what love ever asks. A mind that gives fully from where it stands is not measured against some larger deed it did not do; the completeness is in the offering, not in the scale.

Christian Psychology

She has done what she could, and that is the whole of what love ever asks. A mind that gives fully from where it stands is not measured against some larger deed it did not do; the completeness is in the offering, not in the scale. Her anointing meets the body at its end and quietly says that the coming loss is not the disaster it seems, for love has already reached ahead of it.

The body laid down for burial is only the release of a form that was always temporary, and love that blesses it beforehand shows a mind untroubled by an ending it no longer fears.

Woman: the part of the mind that gives fully from where it stands, complete in the offering itself Body: the temporary form the mind mistakes for the self, released without loss when its ending comes

Live Mark 14:8 today

  1. Do one small thing today without upgrading it in your head first. The short reply you can actually send today is worth more than the long one you keep meaning to write.
  2. Help someone with the piece you can actually reach, carrying the bag, sitting with them for ten minutes, covering one task, and do not apologize for it being small. Let it stand as enough, because it is.
  3. When you are stretched thin and feel the pull to do nothing because you cannot do it properly, give the ten percent you have. Showing up partway is not failing, it is the whole of what love was asking for.

Where am I waiting to give more, instead of giving what I already have?

Bhagavad Gita

Act with full heart and leave the outcome alone. The giving is yours, the size of the result was never yours to arrange.

Stoicism · Epictetus

Do well the part you have been handed instead of resenting the part you were not. Completeness is in how you play it, not in how large it is.

Buddhism · Dhammapada

A gift given with an open heart is whole no matter how small the hand that offers it. What matters is that nothing was held back.
