Mark 15:14 Meaning Pilate Said to Them

Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”

What does Mark 15:14 mean?

Even the judging mind can pause and ask what wrong was actually done, and find no answer. The question exposes that the condemnation rests on nothing real, that no true evil can be named.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Even the judging mind can pause and ask what wrong was actually done, and find no answer. The question exposes that the condemnation rests on nothing real, that no true evil can be named. Yet fear, once roused, does not want the truth; it wants the release that attack seems to promise, and so it grows louder exactly where it has no case.

The rising cry is the sound of guilt refusing to look at its own emptiness. When accusation cannot justify itself it does not fall silent; it shouts, for volume is the ego's last defense when reason has failed it. A mind screaming for the cross is a mind fleeing the question it cannot bear to answer honestly.

  1. When you are furious at a text, write out plainly what the person actually did, in one sentence, no adjectives. The gap between that sentence and how you feel is worth sitting with.
  2. If a friend is venting about someone and the charges keep growing, ask kindly what the person actually did. Not to defend anyone, just to let the air back into the room.
  3. When a group is building momentum against someone, at work, in a family thread, in a comment section, let yourself be the one who does not add the next line. Loudness needs company, and you can decline to be it.

Where am I getting louder because I know I do not have a case?

Those who know do not need to talk, and those who talk often do not know. Noise rises as understanding falls.

Anger held onto cannot bear examination. Look straight at it and ask what is actually here, and the heat of it has nowhere left to stand.
