Mark 15:5 Meaning But Jesus Made No Further Answer

But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

What does Mark 15:5 mean?

When love is accused it does not defend, and this silence unsettles the part of the mind that judges. The ego expects a counterattack, for that is its own language, and it cannot understand a strength that refuses to meet an accusation on the accusation's terms.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

When love is accused it does not defend, and this silence unsettles the part of the mind that judges. The ego expects a counterattack, for that is its own language, and it cannot understand a strength that refuses to meet an accusation on the accusation's terms. To answer nothing is not weakness but the quiet knowing that the charge is unreal and needs no reply.

The mind that judges marvels because it has met something outside its whole system. It has never seen guilt decline to be guilty, innocence decline to argue. That wonder is the first crack in the ego's certainty, the moment fear glimpses a peace it cannot explain and does not yet know how to seek.

Jesus: the presence of love within the mind, so certain of its innocence that it feels no need to defend Pilate: the part of the mind that sits in judgment, disarmed and made to wonder when accusation meets no answer

  1. Scroll past the comment that was written to get a rise out of you, and leave it there. The silence costs you nothing and leaves the other person holding their own heat.
  2. Next time a group chat turns into two people sharpening knives, be the one who does not pick a side or add fuel. Change the subject gently, or just stay quiet and let it burn out.
  3. When someone raises their voice at you, in traffic, at a counter, on a call, keep yours exactly where it was. The gap between their volume and yours is the only thing that ends it.

When was the last time my calm surprised someone, and what happened next?
