Mark 2:23 · World English Bible

Mark 2:23 Meaning He Was Going on the Sabbath Day

He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields, and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain.

What does Mark 2:23 mean?

Spiritual nourishment is drawn straight from within the lower mind, and no outward rule can forbid the taking. The corn is truth grown inside a person's own ground, the sustenance hidden in the field of the natural mind, and to pluck it is to reach in and feed the soul directly.

Spiritual nourishment is drawn straight from within the lower mind, and no outward rule can forbid the taking. The corn is truth grown inside a person's own ground, the sustenance hidden in the field of the natural mind, and to pluck it is to reach in and feed the soul directly. This happens on the sabbath, at the seventh chakra, the pineal gland, the point of rest where thought is stilled and the door on the noise of the mind is closed. In that quiet the faculties gather what they need without asking permission of religion.

The outward law that fences the harvest is broken on purpose. Inner food answers to no priest. The still point feeds itself.

Live Mark 2:23 today

  1. Before you open anything today, no feed, no inbox, no podcast, sit for three minutes with your eyes closed. You already have something to eat in there.
  2. When someone tells you the right way to pray, rest, or heal, listen kindly, then check it against your own quiet. You do not need anyone's permission to be fed.
  3. On a packed day, take the small rest anyway. Ten minutes in the parked car, no screen, no music. Let that be enough and stop apologizing for it.

What have you been waiting for permission to take?

Upanishads

What you are looking for is already in you, closer than your own breath. The food of the soul is not handed out at a gate, it grows in your own ground.

Zen

If you meet the teaching outside yourself, keep walking. Eat when hungry, sleep when tired, and let no rule stand between you and your own hunger.

Tao Te Ching

Without going out of doors one can know the whole world. The sage does not travel to find what is already here.
