Mark 3:1 · World English Bible

Mark 3:1 Meaning He Entered Again Into the Synagogue

He entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there who had his hand withered.

What does Mark 3:1 mean?

The synagogue is the mind, the gathering place of a person's thoughts, and to enter it again is for the higher awareness to return to that inner assembly. The man is the reasoning mind, and his withered hand is blocked energy, since the hand is the channel through which force flows, the left drawing in and the right giving out.

Esoteric

The synagogue is the mind, the gathering place of a person's thoughts, and to enter it again is for the higher awareness to return to that inner assembly. The man is the reasoning mind, and his withered hand is blocked energy, since the hand is the channel through which force flows, the left drawing in and the right giving out. A withered hand is that current dried up, the power of a person shrunk and unmoving because the inner flow has been cut off from its source.

What is met inside the mind is a faculty whose energy has stopped moving, and the awakened awareness enters precisely to restore that flow, so the dried channel fills and the hand can extend again.

synagogue: the mind, the inner assembly where a person's thoughts gather man: the reasoning mind within a person hand: the channel of energy in a person, the left drawing in and the right sending out withered hand: the current of force dried up, power shrunk because the inner flow is blocked

Live Mark 3:1 today

  1. Find the one thing that has gone dry in you from sitting still too long, the project, the friendship, the body. Do one small moving thing today, ten minutes, no plan.
  2. Reach out your hand to one person, literally. A hug, a hand on a shoulder, carrying the bag. Also let someone's help in, the left hand receives as much as the right one gives.
  3. When you freeze in a meeting or on a call, do the smallest possible action instead of nothing. Ask one question. Send the one line. The current starts with motion.

Where in your life has the flow stopped, and what would it take to stretch out your hand again?

The same truth in other traditions

Hinduism · Hatha Yoga

The life force moves through channels in the body, and when one is blocked the whole person goes weak. Practice is clearing the channel so the current runs again.

Tao Te Ching

What is stiff and dry is near death. What is soft and flowing is alive. Health is the current moving, not the strength held.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

The mind that stops acting on what it sees begins to rot. Return to the work of the hands and the power comes back.
