Mark 4:37 · World English Bible
A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled.
The waters are the emotional depths of a person, and when the wind rises over them they churn into a storm: a sudden violence of feeling that seizes the soul. The wind is the breath of turbulent thought and passion stirring the deep, and the waves are the surging emotions it raises, beating hard against the vessel that carries the self across.

ESOTERIC
The waters are the emotional depths of a person, and when the wind rises over them they churn into a storm: a sudden violence of feeling that seizes the soul. The wind is the breath of turbulent thought and passion stirring the deep, and the waves are the surging emotions it raises, beating hard against the vessel that carries the self across.
The ship is the body bearing consciousness over the sea of feeling, and it fills as the flooding emotion pours in and threatens to sink it. This is the inner tempest, the moment the lower waters overwhelm the frame that holds a person together. The higher self sleeps within while the storm of feeling rages, the still center present but not yet risen, and the whole vessel takes on the weight of what it cannot yet calm.
Storm of wind: the sudden violence of passion and turbulent thought stirring the depths of a person Waves: the surging emotions raised in the soul, the swells of feeling that beat against the self Ship: the body carrying consciousness across the sea of feeling, the vessel that bears a person through the depths
Esoteric lens
What feeling have you been treating as the whole ocean?
Feelings arrive like weather, rise, and pass. The storm is not you, it is moving through you.
You are not drowned by what happened but by the surge you added to it. The wind is your own judgment stirring the water.
Muddy water clears if you leave it alone. The one who thrashes to fix it keeps it churning.
