Mark 5:33 Meaning But the Woman

But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

What does Mark 5:33 mean?

She could have slipped away with her healing hidden, but something moves her to come forward, still trembling, and speak the whole truth. The fear is the old self, afraid of being seen.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

She could have slipped away with her healing hidden, but something moves her to come forward, still trembling, and speak the whole truth. The fear is the old self, afraid of being seen. Yet she does not let it govern her. She steps into the light of full honesty and holds nothing back.

There is enormous freedom in this. As long as anything in you must stay concealed, a part of you remains in the grip of fear. When she falls down and tells all the truth, she is no longer divided. She becomes completely present, completely transparent, and in that openness the healing that touched her body reaches all the way through her.

Live Mark 5:33 today

  1. Think of the one thing you would hate for someone to read off your phone. You do not have to tell anyone yet. Just sit with it honestly for a minute instead of looking away.
  2. With one person you trust, say the part you usually leave out. Not the tidy version of your week, the true one, even if your voice shakes a little.
  3. When you are caught out at work, in traffic, in a text you wish you had not sent, resist the quick cover story. Say what actually happened and let it be uncomfortable for ten seconds.

What am I still keeping in the dark, and what would it cost me to let it be seen?

Tao Te Ching 22

The one who stops hiding and stops defending has nothing left to protect, and so becomes whole. What is open cannot be broken the way what is guarded can.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Live so that nothing you do would need to be concealed if someone asked about it. A life with nothing kept back is a life with nothing to fear.

Zen

The teacher asks the student to show their real face, the one before all the covering. Healing begins the moment the student stops performing and simply stands there as they are.
