Mark 6:51 · World English Bible
He got into the boat with them; and the wind ceased, and they were very amazed among themselves, and marveled;
The disciples had strained against the wind all night, and the moment presence stepped into the boat with them, the wind fell quiet. The same thing happens inwardly when awareness enters a troubled mind.

EGO & BEING
The disciples had strained against the wind all night, and the moment presence stepped into the boat with them, the wind fell quiet. The same thing happens inwardly when awareness enters a troubled mind. The struggle that seemed endless simply drops.
Their amazement came because the calm arrived without their doing. A person cannot force the mind to be still. Stillness comes when something deeper is welcomed in, and then the storm one fought so hard against loses its grip on its own. What is left is wonder, the quiet astonishment of a person who finds peace where there was only wind.
Ego v. Being lens
When has peace shown up without you doing anything to earn it?
Muddy water clears on its own if you leave it alone. Stillness is not something you achieve by stirring harder.
You cannot force the pond to be smooth with your hands. Let go of the effort and the surface settles by itself.
The quieting of the mind comes through steady practice and letting go, not through strain. When the churning stops, what you are rests in itself.
