Mark 8:38 · World English Bible

Mark 8:38 Meaning For Whoever Will Be Ashamed of Me

For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him, when he comes in his Father’s glory, with the holy angels.

What does Mark 8:38 mean?

To be ashamed of him and his words is to turn from I AM as the truth and trust the senses instead, and that turning is the whole meaning of an adulterous generation. Adultery here is not of the body.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

To be ashamed of him and his words is to turn from I AM as the truth and trust the senses instead, and that turning is the whole meaning of an adulterous generation. Adultery here is not of the body. It is faithlessness to your own awareness of being, going after the evidence of the outer world as though that were the husband, when the only creative power is the imagining self within.

The Son of man who comes in glory is that same power risen and awake in a person, no longer buried and ignored. A man who denies imagination in the hour it feels absurd, who is embarrassed to hold a state the facts mock, finds nothing risen in him to meet, for what he refused to honor cannot honor him back. The state a person stands by is the state that stands by him. He reaps exactly the loyalty he gives.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

Every generation flatters itself that its consensus is wisdom, and the pressure to fold your convictions into that consensus is enormous. A man who muffles his highest values so a corrupt age will approve of him becomes an accomplice to the corruption. Silence is a choice, and it counts.

What a man will not stand up for in front of others eventually will not stand up for him. Speaking one's convictions aloud is the practice by which the best part of a person stays alive when everything easy pulls the other way. Guard it while it still has a voice.

  1. When you catch yourself quietly backing off something you actually believe, because of how it would sound, stop and say the thing plainly to yourself before you decide anything else.
  2. In the next group chat where everyone is agreeing on how bad something is, do not join in just to belong. Say what you honestly see, in one sentence, kindly.
  3. Under pressure, when the numbers or the inbox say your plan is absurd, hold your plan for one more hour before you touch it. Facts get a vote, not the final word.

The self you stand with becomes your friend, and the self you abandon becomes your enemy. Loyalty inward is repaid inward.

A student who drops his practice the moment it looks foolish to onlookers has nothing left to sit with when the onlookers leave. What you honor in private is what holds you up in public.

If you want to be a philosopher, expect to be laughed at, and do not let the laughter unseat your judgment. The ridicule of the crowd has no standing in the matter.
