Matthew 1:21 Meaning She Shall Give Birth to a Son

She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.

What does Matthew 1:21 mean?

What the mind brings forth when it has chosen love over fear is not another figure in the world but a new understanding of itself. The one who saves does not rescue the body or rearrange events; he saves people from their sins, which means he lifts the belief in guilt that held them bound.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

What the mind brings forth when it has chosen love over fear is not another figure in the world but a new understanding of itself. The one who saves does not rescue the body or rearrange events; he saves people from their sins, which means he lifts the belief in guilt that held them bound. Sin is the conviction that a real wrong has been done and cannot be undone, and that is the single thing salvation answers.

So the promised deliverance is entirely inward. It asks nothing of circumstance and everything of perception, and what it releases is the weight of self-condemnation that the mind had carried as though it were the truth of what it is.

Son: what a mind conceives once it has chosen love, the awakened Self born of that choice Jesus: the presence within that saves not by changing the world but by releasing the mind from its belief in guilt

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The woman who brings forth is every person, the virgin who conceives without knowing how it was done. She carries a desire, feels it done, and one day it stands before her as fact, and she never traced the birth back to the quiet moment she assumed it. That birth is named Jesus, and the name means "I AM saves." Nothing outside the person delivers him. His own awareness of being, turned toward the end he wants and held there as already so, is the savior he waited for.

He saves his people from their sins, and a sin is simply missing the mark, living in a state a person no longer wants. The awareness that assumed the old state is the same awareness that can drop it and take the new. What names a man now is whatever he is conscious of being.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

Naming the child Jesus announces that the whole, true self, the deep pattern of wholeness and the sense of God within, has stepped into the light of awareness with one clear task: to gather back the parts a person has cast away.

Sin, here, is exactly that cast-off darkness: everything the everyday self has pushed out of sight and blamed on someone else as guilt or doom. The angel's command comes in a dream, the age-old way our depths speak their deepest orders. The name given in that in-between place defines the saving work as becoming whole. The lapis, long linked with Christ, stands for a wholeness that matches the true self, the force that draws opposites together and restores the completeness a one-sided life had thrown away.

Live Matthew 1:21 today

  1. When your mind starts replaying something you did wrong, the message you shouldn't have sent, the way you spoke to someone last week, let it run once, then say quietly to yourself that the person carrying this is already forgiven. Then put the phone down and make a cup of coffee.
  2. With one person today, drop a small verdict you have been holding against them, the late reply, the thing they forgot. Talk to them as though the ledger were empty, and watch how much lighter the conversation gets.
  3. If a meeting or an email goes badly and the voice starts in on you, pause before you answer it. Ask yourself whether anything real is being fixed by the self-attack, then do the next useful thing with your hands.

What would today feel like if the mistakes I keep rehearsing were already set down?

Original nature is already clear, so there is no surface for the dust of self-blame to settle on. Nothing has to be polished away, because nothing was ever stained.

Tao Te Ching

The sage does not go about fixing the world. Letting go of the labels of right and wrong that the mind lays over things, the mind returns to its own simplicity, and nothing was lost.

If you remove your judgment that you have been harmed, the harm itself goes with it. The weight was in the verdict, not in the event.
