Matthew 10:23 Meaning But When They Persecute You in This

But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next, for most certainly I tell you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man has come.

What does Matthew 10:23 mean?

Each city is a state of mind, a settled arrangement of thoughts a person lives inside, and the persecution is the resistance that state throws up against the awakening spirit. To flee to another city is to move the awareness on, out of the mental region that has turned hostile and into a fresh state where the work can continue.

Each city is a state of mind, a settled arrangement of thoughts a person lives inside, and the persecution is the resistance that state throws up against the awakening spirit. To flee to another city is to move the awareness on, out of the mental region that has turned hostile and into a fresh state where the work can continue. The counsel is inward migration, the refusal to stay and be crushed where the ground has hardened against you.

The cities of Israel are the many states the ruling faculties must pass through, and they are not exhausted before the Son of man comes: the higher self, the Christ born in a person, arrives while the journey through these inner regions is still unfinished. Awakening does not wait for every state to be conquered; the divine self rises inside the passage itself.

Cities: the settled states of mind a person dwells within, each a fixed arrangement of thought Cities of Israel: the whole succession of inner states the ruling faculties must pass through Son of man: the higher self, the Christ-nature born within, arriving while the inner journey is still underway

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

Being hunted is a relentless pressure that never lets a person settle, driving them on from one town to the next until the whole, true self, the Son of Man, finally comes fully alive inside them.

Each town is only a resting place along the way to wholeness, dissolved by forces deep in the mind before the person can grow comfortable. Anyone who keeps moving under a pull they cannot name knows this restlessness from the inside. Out of the strain between running and being chased, something new is born, a third thing that neither the fearful self nor its hidden dark side could have made alone.

In the heat of that driven ordeal a fourth figure appears, shining and free: the face of God made visible at last.

  1. If a thought loop has been chewing on you all day, stop wrestling it and change the setting. Go for a walk, wash the dishes, step outside. Moving the body moves the mind.
  2. When a conversation with someone turns into the same argument you have had ten times, name it and change the subject for now. Leaving a dead end is not losing.
  3. Under pressure at work, if one approach keeps hitting a wall, try a different door instead of pushing harder on the same one. Growth happens on the way, not after everything is solved.

Where have I been pushing at a wall when a door was open nearby?
