Matthew 11:27 Meaning All Things Have Been Delivered to Me

All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

What does Matthew 11:27 mean?

Nothing reaches a man except through his own I am, and the one who gives and the one given to turn out to be the same. The Father hands all things to the Son because Father and Son are awareness and the self that awareness wears, and the two cannot be pulled apart.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Nothing reaches a man except through his own I am, and the one who gives and the one given to turn out to be the same. The Father hands all things to the Son because Father and Son are awareness and the self that awareness wears, and the two cannot be pulled apart. The Father is not known from outside. Such knowing is an inner event, never a piece of news carried in from elsewhere.

The Son who alone can reveal the Father is David. When David is brought forth out of a man and calls him Father, the man discovers he is God the Father, and not one moment before. This mutual knowing has to be lived; being told it changes nothing. The revealing is the son within turning and pointing home.

SUFISM

Sufism

A stream and its spring are one water, and the stream carries the spring wherever it runs. So the Father is known through the Son and the Son through the Father, not two secrets but one. What misses this is the appetite to master God by thinking, to file Him away as a thing owned.

The cure is to set down the grasping and become someone worth confiding in, honest and low and quiet. This knowing arrives as a gift, not a wage, and God is already leaning toward the beloved heart.

Live Matthew 11:27 today

  1. Sometime today when the house is quiet, let it land that the one who wants and the one who gives are the same. No reaching upward, no waiting on an answer from somewhere else. Just a minute of knowing where it actually comes from.
  2. When a friend asks you for the answer today, hand it back gently. Ask them what they already know about it, because what helps them most is finding it inside instead of taking it from you.
  3. When you are stretched thin and want someone to come through for you, pause before the next text or email. Ask inwardly first, from your own I am, and then move. Help may still come, but you will not be begging for it.

Who exactly have I been waiting on to give me what I am already holding?

Chandogya Upanishad

The teaching says you are that. The one who knows and what is known are the same, and no messenger can hand that over because there is nowhere outside yourself for it to come from.

Zen

A monk asked where to find the Buddha and was told, the one asking. Every search sent outward turns at the end and points back at the searcher.

Sufism · Rumi

I searched the temples and found him at last in my own heart. The seeking and the finding happened in one place, and the journey was only the long way around to arriving where you stood.
