Matthew 14:10 · World English Bible
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
John, whose name carries the grace of the LORD, is the forerunning faculty of the natural mind that prepares the way but must yield before the higher self can reign. Beheading is the cutting of the head from the body, the severing of the lower rational faculty from its base so that a greater consciousness may take the throne.

ESOTERIC
John, whose name carries the grace of the LORD, is the forerunning faculty of the natural mind that prepares the way but must yield before the higher self can reign. Beheading is the cutting of the head from the body, the severing of the lower rational faculty from its base so that a greater consciousness may take the throne.
The prison is the confinement of the flesh in which this preparing power sits bound, the dark cell of the body where the natural mind is held. Its losing of the head is the necessary end of the lower knowing: the forerunner is silenced within a man so that the awareness he announced can rise in his place.
John: the forerunning faculty of the natural mind, the herald that prepares the way and then must give place Prison: the confinement of the flesh, the dark cell of the body where the lower mind is held bound

Where is my own thinking doing all the talking and leaving nothing room to speak?
The way is a direct pointing to mind, outside words and letters. Reasoning sets you up for it and then has to be set down.
In study you keep adding. In the way, you keep taking away, until you are acting from something deeper than reasoning.
The reasoning mind can point toward what is real but cannot reach it. It brings you to the edge and then must fall silent.
