Matthew 14:36 Meaning And They Begged Him That They Might

and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.

What does Matthew 14:36 mean?

Wholeness begins at the ground of the body, not at the head. The hem, the kraspedon, is the fringe at the lowest border of the robe, the cloth that drags nearest the earth, and it marks the base of the spine where the coiled energy waits at the root.

Wholeness begins at the ground of the body, not at the head. The hem, the kraspedon, is the fringe at the lowest border of the robe, the cloth that drags nearest the earth, and it marks the base of the spine where the coiled energy waits at the root. To touch there is to reach the seat of life at the foot of the column and start the fire moving upward.

The healing was perfect because the current, once wakened at the hem, did not stop low. It climbed the spine through all 7 centers to the crown and closed the circuit. Whole means the whole man is lit, base to skull, when the power that slept at the fringe rises the full height of the body.

Hem: the fringed lower border of the garment, the tzitzit at the ankle, standing for the base of the spine where the sleeping energy is coiled at the root Garment: the flesh worn over the spirit, the body of skin that clothes the inner man from foot to crown The number 7 (the centers): the ladder of energy stations along the spine, from the root at the hem to the crown at the head

Live Matthew 14:36 today

  1. Before you open your laptop, stand with both feet flat and feel your weight go all the way down for three breaths. Start the day from the floor up instead of from your head down.
  2. When someone is upset and you want to fix it with words, touch their shoulder or hand them something warm first. The lowest, plainest gesture often reaches further than the explanation.
  3. In a grocery line or a jammed commute, unclench your jaw and let your shoulders drop, then feel your feet. Relief tends to start at the bottom of you and travel up.

What in me has been waiting at the ground floor while I kept trying to solve it from the top?

The same truth in other traditions

Hinduism · Kundalini teaching

The yoga traditions describe a sleeping energy coiled at the base of the spine that, once wakened, rises through the centers to the crown. The work starts low, at the root, not at the head.

Taoism · Qigong

Chinese inner practice begins at the lower field below the navel and raises the energy up the spine along the governing channel. Healing is treated as a current completing its circuit, not as thinking harder.

Zen

Zen puts the seat of practice in the belly and the posture rather than the intellect. You are told to sit, settle your weight, and let realization come up through the body from the ground.
