Matthew 18:14 Meaning Even So It Is Not the Will

Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

What does Matthew 18:14 mean?

It is not the Father's will that any part of His creation be lost, because what He wills is simply what is true, and the innocence He created cannot cease to be. A mind may dream of perishing, may imagine guilt has undone it, but the dream does not reach the reality the Father holds.

Christian Psychology

It is not the Father's will that any part of His creation be lost, because what He wills is simply what is true, and the innocence He created cannot cease to be. A mind may dream of perishing, may imagine guilt has undone it, but the dream does not reach the reality the Father holds. His will and the safety of His Son are the same thing said two ways.

So the little one cannot perish, however loudly fear insists it can. The mind is kept whole by a Will that never wavered, and salvation is only the moment it stops believing otherwise. What God wills stands, and every innocence He made stands with it, untouched by the fears that seemed to threaten it.

  1. Next time your mind runs the worst case at 2 a.m., say plainly that the thing you are most afraid of losing is not the thing that makes you you. Then put the phone down.
  2. When someone you love is sure they have ruined everything, tell them the part of them you actually love is still completely intact. Say it simply.
  3. Before a review, a hard conversation, or a call you are dreading, remind yourself that this cannot reach what you really are. Walk in with that instead of armor.

What in me have I been guarding that was never actually at risk?

What is genuinely yours can never be taken, only what was on loan from the world. Nobody can harm what actually belongs to you.
