Matthew 19:14 Meaning But Jesus Said
But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

Matthew 19:14 · World English Bible
But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”
The mind that would push the little ones aside mistakes innocence for something small, when in truth the childlike is the only part of it that can come near to love at all. What is unguarded, trusting, and free of the ego's calculations does not have to be defended against; it is precisely what belongs.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The mind that would push the little ones aside mistakes innocence for something small, when in truth the childlike is the only part of it that can come near to love at all. What is unguarded, trusting, and free of the ego's calculations does not have to be defended against; it is precisely what belongs. To forbid the child is to bar the very quality by which the mind enters peace.
The kingdom is not earned by the shrewd or the accomplished. It opens to whatever in the mind has laid its defenses down and simply, without suspicion, draws near.
Little children: the innocent and trusting part of the mind, free of the ego's defenses, the quality by which love is approached. Kingdom of heaven: the state of mind that has laid down its guard, the peace open to whatever comes unafraid.

EGO & BEING
A young child meets the world without a screen of concepts between itself and life. It has not yet built the heavy sense of self, the accumulated past and imagined future that the mind mistakes for who you are. It simply is, present and open.
This openness is why the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. That kingdom is not earned through knowledge or achievement, which only feed the ego. It is entered by becoming present again, by setting down the mental burden you carry and meeting this moment with the fresh awareness you knew before thinking took over.

ESOTERIC
The inner realm belongs to the childlike states, the fresh unconditioned thoughts not yet hardened by opinion, fear, and the world's teaching. Little children are these pure faculties in a person, the mind before it crusts over, and those who would forbid them are the grown, defended intellect that guards the higher self from anything so simple and open.
The center is reached through the part of you that is still trusting and unhardened, not through the part that has learned to be clever. Letting the innocence within come forward is how the kingdom, the awakened inner life, opens.
Little children: the pure unconditioned states of mind, fresh thoughts not yet hardened by opinion, fear, or the world Kingdom of heaven: the inner realm of awakened awareness within a person, entered through what is still trusting and open

AWARENESS
Those who guard the door are always the ones who have collected the most knowledge, and knowledge cannot tolerate innocence because innocence makes it look useless. The disciples pushing the children away were protecting their own seriousness.
A child lives without ambition, without a past worth defending, wholly inside whatever is happening, and this is exactly the quality the kingdom requires. Not a return to childishness, but a second innocence, arrived at by seeing through everything the mind has accumulated until wonder is possible again. The children were let through because nothing in them needed to be dropped.
Christian Psychology lens
What would come close to me today if I stopped guarding the door?
The one who holds deep virtue is like a newborn: soft, unarmed, carrying nothing to defend, and for that reason nothing in the world can harm what it is.
The beginner's mind is the goal, not the starting line. Once the mind becomes expert, it closes, and the opening it had is the very thing it traded away.
The cleverness that gets you through the market cannot get you through the door of love. There you must come empty-handed, foolish, with your arms open.
