Matthew 19:6 Meaning So That They Are No More Two

So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.

What does Matthew 19:6 mean?

What love has united cannot be split by the mind that thinks in twos, though the ego labors endlessly to prove the division real. The seeming two are one; their apartness is the dream, and every attempt to sever them only draws a line across a wholeness that remains untouched beneath it.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

What love has united cannot be split by the mind that thinks in twos, though the ego labors endlessly to prove the division real. The seeming two are one; their apartness is the dream, and every attempt to sever them only draws a line across a wholeness that remains untouched beneath it. Man puts asunder in perception alone, and perception is exactly what the miracle corrects.

A mind at peace stops trying to divide what was created whole, and sees the other not as a separate self to be kept or dismissed but as itself, already joined.

One flesh: the single shared identity beneath the appearance of two, the wholeness that fear cannot actually divide. God: the love that joined the mind to its brother, the union that stands prior to every attempt to break it.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The two made one are the inner man of imagination and the outer man of sense, and the marriage is the moment a felt assumption fuses with the world so they are no longer separate things. What God has joined is any state you have truly accepted, wedded to you in feeling until it is one flesh with your life. God here is your own imagination, the power that conceives and unites.

Let no man put asunder means the senses must not be allowed to divorce you from what you have inwardly wed. The world will report the opposite and press you to unhitch the assumption from yourself. Every doubt that says it is not so is the attempt to tear the two apart. A state held as one with you is not broken by appearances. What you have joined to yourself in imagination and refused to divide from stays married to you until it stands up as fact.

Live Matthew 19:6 today

  1. When you catch yourself building the case against someone in your head, listing what they did and where they were wrong, stop adding to the list. Their side is part of you too, and you can set the file down without deciding who won.
  2. With one person today, your partner, a friend, a sibling, talk to them as if there is nothing to defend. Drop the small scorekeeping about who texted last or who gave more, and just be with them.
  3. In a tense meeting or a group chat that is splitting into sides, resist picking one. Say something that holds both people in the room instead of the thing that proves a point.

Where am I working hardest to keep a line between me and someone who is already part of me?

The ten thousand things look separate, but they come from one source and return to it. Naming them apart is a convenience of speech, not a fact about them.

Advaita Vedanta · Chandogya Upanishad

The teaching "you are that" says the self you call yours and the self you call another's are the same being wearing two faces. The sense of two is a mistake in seeing, not a wall in reality.

Lovers do not finally meet somewhere; they were in each other all along. What looks like reaching across a distance is the discovery that the distance was never there.
