CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Once a mind has knelt before innocence, it is inwardly warned not to go back and report to fear. To return to Herod would be to hand the vision over to the ego for judgment, and the quiet counsel within forbids it. Having seen the truth, the mind is told plainly that it need not, and must not, submit that truth to the tyrant that would destroy it.

So it goes home by another way. This is the whole meaning of a changed mind: the same traveler, the same country, but no longer the old road that always led back through fear. Once love has been recognized, the way of return through guilt is simply no longer taken.

Herod: the ego that would seize and destroy the vision if the mind reported back to it Dream: the field of sleep in which the mind is nonetheless guided, warned by love even while it seems to dream Another way: the changed path of a mind that will no longer route its life back through fear

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

The warning dream that turns the Magi away from Herod is the mind's own bridge at work: our depths, refusing to help a tyrant, open a path the old attitude cannot even see.

Herod is the reigning attitude that wants the newborn sign of wholeness handed back within its reach and destroyed before it can reshape a person from the inside. The dream is no mere night-mist but a true report, sent at the moment our depths move to guard a new direction against the pull of the old order. "Another way" is the mark of becoming whole: no meeting with wholeness leaves the traveler on the same road home.

  1. When your mind starts rehearsing the old replay alone in the car or in bed, let it stop mid sentence. You already saw something gentler today, and you are allowed to drive home a different way.
  2. With one person, skip the part where you report the good thing to someone who will pick it apart. Tell it instead to someone who will just be glad with you, or keep it quietly to yourself.
  3. Under pressure, when the group chat or the meeting pulls for your worst read on someone, stay off that road. Say the plainer, kinder thing, even if it costs you the better line.

What good thing in me am I still handing over for a verdict it does not need?
