Matthew 21:8 Meaning A Very Great Multitude Spread Their Clothes

A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road.

What does Matthew 21:8 mean?

The multitude is the crowd of a person's own thoughts and faculties, the many voices of the mind moving together as the higher self passes through toward its center. To spread garments in the way is to lay down the outer coverings, the identities and defenses a person wraps around themselves, so nothing obstructs the rising current along its path.

The branches cut from trees are living energies drawn from the body's own growth, strewn to cushion and honor the passage. The way is the inner road, the channel through which the awakened self travels up to the temple that is the body itself.

What unfolds is an inner welcome: the mind's many parts lay aside their outer shells and their vital force to smooth the path of the awakening self.

Live Matthew 21:8 today

  1. Clear one physical path today, the desk, the car seat, the counter you drop everything on. Let the outside match what you want the inside to feel like.
  2. Go into one conversation without your usual role, the expert, the fixer, the funny one, and just listen. Lay the costume down at the door.
  3. When you feel yourself about to defend your image in an email or a meeting, drop the defense and answer the actual question. Less armor, more room.

What are you carrying into the room that is taking up the space?
