Matthew 22:25 Meaning Now There Were with Us Seven Brothers

Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.

What does Matthew 22:25 mean?

The number 7 is the full cycle of a person's states, the complete week of the lower nature running through its whole succession. The 7 brothers are these stages of the earthly self, each taking the same soul-power in turn, each dying without leaving true fruit.

The number 7 is the full cycle of a person's states, the complete week of the lower nature running through its whole succession. The 7 brothers are these stages of the earthly self, each taking the same soul-power in turn, each dying without leaving true fruit.

So the soul is handed down through the entire round of mortal states and none can generate what endures. Every merely physical union of a person leaves nothing that survives the passing of its own stage.

7 brethren: the complete cycle of a person's earthly states, the 7 stages of the lower nature taking the soul in turn Wife: the receptive soul-faculty bound in succession to each temporary condition, joined to flesh yet bearing no lasting fruit

Live Matthew 22:25 today

  1. Look at an old photo of yourself today, or an old message thread, and see how completely that version of you has been replaced. Then feel who is doing the looking, because that part has been here for all of them.
  2. With your family or someone close today, let an old story about them stay closed. The person in front of you is not the one from five years ago, and treating them as new is a small kindness nobody notices but everyone feels.
  3. When today puts pressure on the version of you that you have been working to build, a bad review, a dropped ball, a plan that fails, let that version take the hit. You are not it, and you were not going to keep it anyway.

Which version of yourself are you still trying to make permanent?
