Matthew 23:10 · World English Bible
Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.
The warning against being called master returns because the wish to rule over other minds is stubborn, and the ego offers it again and again as proof of worth. To take that title is to imagine oneself the author of another's learning, when in truth every mind is taught by the same inner Voice and no self has anything of its own to hand down.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The warning against being called master returns because the wish to rule over other minds is stubborn, and the ego offers it again and again as proof of worth. To take that title is to imagine oneself the author of another's learning, when in truth every mind is taught by the same inner Voice and no self has anything of its own to hand down.
So the mind is brought back once more to its one teacher within. When it accepts that a single Master speaks to all, the whole contest for position falls away, for there is nothing to win where all are led by the same love, and the self that stops striving to rule finds it never lacked the worth it tried to seize.
Master: the one inner teacher all minds share, the single Voice for love that alone instructs, leaving no self to rule over another
Christian Psychology lens
What would you stop having to prove if being the one who knows did not matter?
The river reaches the sea by staying low. The one who leads well puts himself behind, and so ends up ahead without reaching for it.
The teacher does not hand over understanding. He gets out of the way of it, and the student finds what was already there.
You cannot govern another person's mind, only your own responses. Reach for more than that and you will exhaust yourself over nothing.
