Matthew 24:42 · World English Bible
Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.
The hour is never in the future. What arrives is always this moment, and it arrives now, and now again, wearing a face no one expected.

EGO & BEING
The hour is never in the future. What arrives is always this moment, and it arrives now, and now again, wearing a face no one expected. To keep watch is not to strain toward some coming event but to be so present that when life turns the corner, someone is home to meet it.
Most people miss their own lives waiting for the important thing to begin. The mind stays elsewhere, rehearsing and remembering, while the one appointment that matters keeps its hour quietly, in an ordinary breath. When attention rests here, the arrival and the awakened one stand already in the same room.

ESOTERIC
The Lord who comes is the higher self rising within, and its coming is not fixed to any clock a person can read in advance. Wakefulness of consciousness is the whole condition of receiving it: the aware mind held open and alert, since the awakening arrives in its own unmarked moment and cannot be scheduled by the outward self.
The hour that stays unknown is the exact turn of inner change, the instant the deeper nature stirs and lifts. The one who drifts in outward sleep misses it; the one whose awareness stays lit meets the higher self the moment it arises within.
Hour: the unmarked moment of inner awakening, the turn of consciousness that cannot be fixed in advance Lord: the higher self rising within, the deeper nature coming into its own in a person
Ego v. Being lens
What is already here that I keep waiting for?
The old teachers answered everything with this: when you eat, eat. When you walk, walk. The great matter does not arrive later, it arrives in the chore in your hands.
Seneca said that while we wait to begin living, life goes past. Everyone is busy with tomorrow and the one day they have is spent elsewhere.
A journey of a thousand miles happens under the foot that is moving now. The whole thing is only ever here.
