To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.

Matthew 25:15 · World English Bible
To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
The talents distributed are portions of spiritual energy and consciousness handed to each faculty within a person, capital placed in the being to be worked and multiplied. The number 5 is the measure of the senses and the outward man, the contact with the world through which awareness gathers experience.

ESOTERIC
The talents distributed are portions of spiritual energy and consciousness handed to each faculty within a person, capital placed in the being to be worked and multiplied. The number 5 is the measure of the senses and the outward man, the contact with the world through which awareness gathers experience. The number 2 is the pair of inner witnesses, the twin powers of reason and feeling. The number 1 is the single undivided center, given whole to the part still bound to unity.
Each receives according to capacity, and then the giver departs inward, withdrawing from the surface so the endowment can be used in his apparent absence. The energy is now the person's to invest, and the whole account will turn on whether the life-force lent within is put to work or buried.
5 talents: the number 5 as the senses and the outward man, the contact with the world through 5 gates 2 talents: the number 2 as the paired inner witnesses of reason and feeling One talent: the number 1 as the single undivided center given whole

What have I been treating as too small to be worth using?
It is better to do your own work imperfectly than someone else's work well. The portion you were handed is the only one you can actually invest.
To know what is enough is to be rich. The measure given to you is the measure to work with, and comparing it to another's makes it smaller than it is.
You did not choose your part in the play, only how well you act it. The casting was never yours; the playing entirely is.
