What does Matthew 26:10 mean?

To defend the one accused is to see past the accusation entirely, to look upon her act and find only love where others found only fault. The mind that is troubled by generosity is the mind troubled within itself, projecting its own unrest onto the giver.

Christian Psychology

To defend the one accused is to see past the accusation entirely, to look upon her act and find only love where others found only fault. The mind that is troubled by generosity is the mind troubled within itself, projecting its own unrest onto the giver. To call her work good is to correct the seeing, to name as blessed what the ego named as waste, and in that naming the quarrel dissolves because it was never about her at all.

A mind that answers judgment with recognition performs the one true correction. It does not argue the ego's arithmetic; it simply refuses to see guilt where love has acted. The good work was already done. What remains is only to let it be seen for what it is, and to release the accusers from the trouble they mistook for wisdom.

Woman: the part of the mind that has loved without measure, now defended against the ego's charge Good work: the act of love itself, seen truly once the accusation is set aside

Live Matthew 26:10 today

  1. Today, defend someone who is not in the room. One sentence in a group chat is enough to turn the direction of it.
  2. When you feel the pull to correct how someone did a kind thing, let it go and thank them instead. Their way of giving did not need your edit.
  3. If you are annoyed at someone at work, try on the most generous explanation for what they did. Hold it for an hour and see whether the annoyance was ever about them.

Whose good act have you spoiled by pointing out how it could have been done better?
