Matthew 26:36 Meaning Then Jesus Came with Them

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go there and pray.”

What does Matthew 26:36 mean?

Jesus is your own imagination, the awakened creative power moving into Gethsemane, the place of pressing, where a man is squeezed to the very end of his limitation and does not reach for an easy way out. He leaves the disciples seated and goes on alone to pray, and to pray his way is to enter the feeling of the wish already fulfilled, apart, in stillness, where the senses are set aside and only the assumed state is entertained.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

Jesus is your own imagination, the awakened creative power moving into Gethsemane, the place of pressing, where a man is squeezed to the very end of his limitation and does not reach for an easy way out. He leaves the disciples seated and goes on alone to pray, and to pray his way is to enter the feeling of the wish already fulfilled, apart, in stillness, where the senses are set aside and only the assumed state is entertained.

Sit ye here means the outer faculties stay behind. This work is done inward and alone, in the quiet where a man occupies the end he desires and remains loyal to it under the full weight of appearances that deny it. He does not escape the pressing by force. He drinks it to the bottom by holding his inner scene faithful while everything around him argues against it. That solitary imagining, kept true under pressure, is the prayer that changes the world he wakes to.

  1. When the worry hits tonight, put the phone face down and spend five minutes inside the ending you actually want, as if it already happened. Stay with the feeling instead of checking anything.
  2. Tell one person you need twenty quiet minutes, and take them without explaining further. Let the people around you stay seated while you go.
  3. In the meeting or the hard call where everything says it is falling apart, hold the outcome you want steady in the back of your mind and say nothing to defend it. Let the pressure press, and do not bargain your way out.

What would I hold steady if I stopped looking for the exit?

The still water is what reflects clearly. Stirring harder does not help, so the wise one waits without grasping and the muddy settles on its own.
