Matthew 26:6 · World English Bible
Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
The awakened self does not lodge in some clean and finished quarter of a person. It takes up its dwelling in the very part that is carnal, unclean, and wasting, the region of the body and its lower appetites, and abides there while sheltered from the burning of that same lower mind.

ESOTERIC
The awakened self does not lodge in some clean and finished quarter of a person. It takes up its dwelling in the very part that is carnal, unclean, and wasting, the region of the body and its lower appetites, and abides there while sheltered from the burning of that same lower mind. The commander of the higher consciousness enters the room where the sick self lives and stays.
Simon the leper is that carnal part, the portion of a man out of harmony with the whole, decaying at the edges. Bethany is the shade over that portion, the cool house of dates that guards the awakened center from the heat of the flesh. The higher self settles precisely there, unafraid of the sickness it has come to sit beside.
Jesus: the emerald commander of the higher consciousness, the awakened center taking up residence in a person Bethany: the house of dates, the shelter and shade that guards the awakened self from the burning of the lower mind Simon the leper: the carnal, unclean, wasting part of a person, the flesh out of harmony with the whole

What in me am I waiting to clean up before I let it be seen?
This very body, just as it is, is the place of awakening. Not a purified version of it later, this one, now.
The Way is in the muddy ditch as fully as on the mountain. Looking only in the clean places is what keeps a person from finding it.
The wound is the opening. Light does not wait for the house to be repaired before it comes in.
