Matthew 27:29 Meaning They Braided a Crown of Thorns

They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

What does Matthew 27:29 mean?

The higher self, the awakened Christ within, is dressed in a mockery of its own sovereignty before the crowd of lower thoughts can take it seriously. Thorns ring the head because the crown of illumination, the true light meant to shine from the crown center at the top of the skull, has been twisted into pain by a mind that only feels pressure where it should feel radiance.

The reed placed in the right hand is a hollow, bending scepter: real spiritual authority, the power of the active side of the self, is handed a weak substitute that snaps under any weight.

The bent knee and the shouted title are worship that does not mean it. A person can salute the divinity in themselves with words while inwardly jeering at it, and that split is the whole state pictured here. The king is real; the honor given him is empty, and the empty honor is what keeps the true reign from taking hold.

Crown of thorns: the light of the crown center at the top of the head turned into pressure and pain by a mind that cannot yet bear illumination Reed: a hollow, bending scepter, the counterfeit of true inner authority that gives way under any real weight Right hand: the active, outgoing power of the self, here made to hold a false emblem of rule

Live Matthew 27:29 today

  1. Catch the gap today between what you say you value and the last hour you actually spent. Close it by five minutes rather than by a speech.
  2. Stop praising someone for something you do not actually believe they did well. Find the true thing and say that instead, even if it is smaller.
  3. When you are pressed for a quick yes, in a meeting or a message thread, do not agree in words to something you have no plan to carry out. A real no costs you less than a hollow yes.

What did I salute today with my mouth and quietly refuse with my time?

When the real thing fades, the ceremony around it grows. Elaborate honor is usually a sign that the substance has already left.

Do not talk about your principles, let people run into them. The one who narrates the practice is almost always the one skipping it.
