CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A changed mind shows itself the way a healthy tree shows itself, not by declaration but by what naturally comes forth. Words of remorse cost nothing and leave the fear untouched. What proves the change is a new way of seeing others, a readiness to overlook where before there was quickness to condemn.

The fruit asked for is not sacrifice or display. It is the gentleness that appears on its own once the mind has truly chosen love as its teacher, so that forgiveness is lived rather than merely spoken.

Fruits: the gentle perceptions that grow of themselves from a mind that has changed teachers, the visible sign of forgiveness chosen within

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

Asking for fruit worthy of repentance is the true self insisting that facing your hidden faults show up in real life, not just in a spoken confession.

When repentance stops at nice words and slides into excusing yourself, it shows the hidden parts have not really been met; the wrongdoing has been dumped onto a holy go-between instead of owned and brought into the open. Real repentance treats those rejected parts as the very opposite of the good and pushes the whole person toward becoming whole. The deeper work is slow change: what you rejected has to be cleaned out until honest growth bears fruit you can no longer blame on someone else.

Live Matthew 3:8 today

  1. Instead of resolving to be more patient, find the one message you have been short with and answer it kindly today. The change is the action, not the resolve.
  2. Give someone the benefit of the doubt before you have the facts. A late reply, a flat tone, a missed call: assume the generous version and respond to that one.
  3. In the meeting where you usually have the sharp remark ready, let it go unsaid and ask a real question instead. Nobody will know, which is exactly what makes it real.

If someone watched my day without hearing a word from me, what would they say I had chosen?

Tao Te Ching 81

True words are not showy and showy words are not true. What is real in a person comes out in how they treat others, not in what they say about themselves.

Stoicism · Epictetus

A tree does not announce its fruit. If you have changed, it will show in your behavior, and if it does not show, the talk was not the change.

Buddhism · Dhammapada

A fine saying you do not live by is a flower with no scent. The one who acts on even a little of it has more than the one who recites all of it.
