Matthew 4:23 Meaning Jesus Went About in All Galilee

Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

What does Matthew 4:23 mean?

Where love goes, correction follows in every form the mind can recognize. The teaching, the good news, and the healing are not three works but one: the mending of a mind that believed it was sick, separate, and shut out of its own kingdom.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Where love goes, correction follows in every form the mind can recognize. The teaching, the good news, and the healing are not three works but one: the mending of a mind that believed it was sick, separate, and shut out of its own kingdom. Every sickness is the same sickness underneath, the belief in separation, and it answers to the same single remedy.

So the healing reaches all manner of disease because it never treated the body in the first place. It changed the mind that was dreaming the illness. When the cause is met, the countless forms of suffering lose their root at once, and a mind restored to love finds it was whole the whole time.

Sickness and disease: the many faces of one belief in separation, the mind's guilt shown as a suffering body. Galilee: the field of ordinary experience, the whole landscape of the mind through which love moves to correct.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

Wholeness moves through every corner of the inner life when the true, whole self becomes the ruling center of a person, a reign that spreads into all that was once divided or dark.

What the text calls kingdom, in Hebrew and Greek, names not a fixed patch of land but a living rule, God asserting himself across the whole inner landscape. Picture a doctor who goes ward by ward until no patient is left unseen: the deep center does not wait for broken pieces to come to it but goes down into every wound, every split-off hurt, drawing each into the pull of wholeness.

Teaching and healing are not two acts but one, clarity and cure the same thing wherever a person is growing whole.

Live Matthew 4:23 today

  1. When something in your body or mood feels wrong today, sit with it for a minute before you reach for your phone or a search bar. Ask what the feeling is actually saying about how alone you think you are.
  2. Pick one person who gets on your nerves in a group chat or at work, and treat them today as someone who is simply frightened rather than difficult. Answer the fear, not the words.
  3. In the hardest part of your day, a tense meeting, a long line, a jam on the highway, drop the story of who did this to you and let yourself be here without defense. The pressure mostly lives in the story.

What if the thing you keep trying to fix in your life is one small sign of a single idea you could put down today?

Buddhism

The Buddha is spoken of as a physician whose teaching treats one illness under every symptom: the craving and clinging that make a self feel cut off and under threat. Heal that root and the thousand complaints it produced have nowhere left to stand.

Chandogya Upanishad

The student is told, "You are that," meaning the self he feels to be small and shut out was never separate from the whole. The cure is not a change in him but the lifting of a mistake about what he already is.

Stoicism · Epictetus

People are disturbed not by events but by their judgments about events, so the work is done where the judgment lives, not out in the world. Change the opinion and the whole crowd of troubles it fathered quietly dissolves.
