PSYCHOANALYSIS
When wholeness arrives at the edge of a settled world, it frightens the group even more than the chaos it just cleared away. The herdsmen's real loss anchors the scene: livelihoods drowned along with the pigs. Yet the deeper story is an inner one.
The city stands in for the mother: the cozy, familiar enclosure a group hides in rather than face what is holy. Wholeness itself has crossed the sea and broken the grip of the dark, and the townspeople answer by choosing to send it away. Asking wholeness to leave is growth refused right at the doorstep, a community clinging to its tidy, managed darkness instead of the wholeness that real change demands.
