Micah 4:10 · World English Bible

Micah 4:10 Meaning Be in Pain

Be in pain, and labor to give birth, daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now you will go out of the city, and will dwell in the field, and will come even to Babylon. There you will be rescued. There Yahweh will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.

What does Micah 4:10 mean?

Something in a person must be born, and birth has never come without the tearing. The pain of a woman in labour carries no punishment in it.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

Something in a person must be born, and birth has never come without the tearing. The pain of a woman in labour carries no punishment in it. That pain is the narrow door through which new life pushes into the world, and the pushing feels like breaking.

So the walls fall. The soul is carried into exile, into the open field and even into Babylon, the place that looks like defeat. What the frightened mind calls the worst place turns out to be the ground of deliverance. Rescue waits precisely where a person stopped being able to arrange things, and the old enemy loses its grip when there is nothing left to defend.

  1. When a hard feeling shows up tonight, put the phone face down instead of scrolling it away. Sit with the discomfort for two minutes and let it be uncomfortable without fixing it.
  2. If someone close to you is going through something painful, stop trying to talk them out of it. Say something like, this is hard, and stay in the conversation without offering a solution.
  3. When a plan falls apart at work, before you start repairing it, take one breath and admit plainly that you are not in control of this. Then do the next small thing from there instead of from panic.

What am I trying to hold together that might need to come apart first?

Tao Te Ching

What is soft and yielding comes through, while what is rigid breaks. Letting yourself be bent is not defeat, it is how something survives the storm.

Buddhism

The first noble truth begins with pain, not around it. Looking straight at the ache is the opening move of freedom, not a sign that something went wrong.
