Micah 6:7 Meaning Will Yahweh Be Pleased with Thousands

Will Yahweh be pleased with thousands of rams? With tens of thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my disobedience? The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

What does Micah 6:7 mean?

Raising the price is how a person avoids discovering that the thing they wanted was never for sale. Underneath every raised offer sits a belief that acceptance has a price and the last bid was too low.

Raising the price is how a person avoids discovering that the thing they wanted was never for sale.

Underneath every raised offer sits a belief that acceptance has a price and the last bid was too low. That belief sets a state of permanent deficit, deficit drives the next offering, and the offerings climb until the only currency left is a human being.

The need underneath is connection with Yahweh, and connection has never once been purchased. Routed through a transaction it becomes a bid for approval, which has no ceiling, because approval bought yesterday has to be bought again today. Justice and mercy and walking humbly ask more of a man than rams do, since they cannot be delegated to something he owns. The price of the purchasing belief is almost never paid by the one who holds it; it comes out of whoever is standing nearest.

Live Micah 6:7 today

  1. Find the place where you keep raising your offer, more hours, more spending, more performing, and ask what you are actually hoping to be given in return. Name it in one word.
  2. With the person whose approval you keep buying, show up today with nothing to present. No favor, no update, no proof. Just be in the room with them.
  3. When you feel the urge to overpay to fix something, the long apology, the overgenerous gesture, the extra night of work, do the plain honest thing instead and let it be enough.

What am I trying to purchase from someone that was never for sale?

There is no greater poverty than wanting more. The one who knows enough already has it, and no higher bid will produce it.
