Nehemiah 8:8 · World English Bible
They read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.
Scripture read only for its history stays shut. It opens the moment a person hears it as a description of his own inner life.
From the Manifestation reading below.
The same verse, read by one tradition.

MANIFESTATION
Scripture read only for its history stays shut. It opens the moment a person hears it as a description of his own inner life. The book is the law of God, and that law is the way imagining becomes fact. To give the sense is to translate the ancient names into the states of feeling moving in a man right now. Egypt becomes his bondage. The promised land becomes the assumption he has finally dared to hold.
Understanding here adds no new facts. A man meets himself in the page. Once the outer story falls away, what remains is the plain account of how a state held within hardens into a life without. The reader stops watching strangers in a far country. He sees his own awareness at work, and the words describe the one skill that changes anything, the assuming of the self he means to be.
Manifestation lens
Where am I in the story I thought was about someone else?
The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon. Read the words until they turn and point back at you.
The teaching ends in one recognition: that which is spoken of out there is what you are. The whole text is a mirror.
Every story of a far country is a story of the soul's own states. The traveler and the road are both within the one who reads.
