those who were counted of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.
A census in the wilderness is a weighing of the powers inside a person, not a headcount of tents in the sand. Judah numbered greatest is the right hemisphere counted first and largest, the tribe of light, the children of light who carry the sun of the higher mind.

ESOTERIC
A census in the wilderness is a weighing of the powers inside a person, not a headcount of tents in the sand. Judah numbered greatest is the right hemisphere counted first and largest, the tribe of light, the children of light who carry the sun of the higher mind. When the inner forces are tallied, the right-brain light-force stands at the head of them, the brightest and most populous power in the body's field.
That Judah leads the count places the higher mind above the rest, the seat of the sun set over the lower tribes. The great number gathered under the tribe of light says the strongest current in a person runs through the right side, where the inner sun rises. The tally is really a portrait of which power in the body weighs the most, and it is the light.
Judah: the right hemisphere, the tribe of light and the inner sun of the higher mind, counted first and greatest
Esoteric lens
If someone took an honest census of what is in me today, which force would come out largest?
To know others is a kind of cleverness; to know what is actually strongest in yourself is a different order of knowing. The one who has taken that measure is not easily pushed.
The mind leans where you lean it, and whatever you keep feeding becomes the strongest thing in you. Count honestly which current is largest, because that is the one carrying you.
Who is strong? The one who rules their own impulses. The strength worth counting is not the loudest force in you but the one that can govern the rest.
