Numbers 12:6 Meaning He Said

He said, “Now hear my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The vision and the dream named here are not lesser channels for God's message. They are the only workshop the creative power has. Imagination is the room where the unseen becomes visible, and the drowsy state near sleep is where its voice comes through clearest, because the arguing daytime mind has grown quiet.

A prophet, in this sense, is anyone who can construct a scene in imagination and dwell in it as though awake within it. He is not foretelling a fixed future. He is the one to whom the forming power speaks, and it speaks in pictures and felt situations rather than in reasoned words. What is vividly imagined in that relaxed, half-asleep state is how the deeper self makes itself known. The picture held there is the message, and it hardens into event.

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

When the daylight mind grows quiet, another voice can be heard. It does not come from the person's own planning or wishing. It rises from a deeper layer of the mind, one that seems older and wider than the small self we know by day, and its natural language is dreams and waking visions.

The one called a prophet is simply the person who has learned to listen. He does not invent the message and cannot summon it. It arrives on its own, and his whole task is to receive what the deeper mind sends and carry it back to the others.

Live Numbers 12:6 today

  1. In the last few drowsy minutes before sleep, build one short scene of something good already happening and stay inside it until you drop off.
  2. Ask one person today what they actually picture when they imagine things going well. Let them describe the scene rather than the plan.
  3. When a decision has you spinning in arguments, stop debating it, close your eyes for a minute and watch the version where it worked out. Then move.

What picture do I keep showing myself as I fall asleep?

Taoism · Zhuangzi

Zhuangzi dreamed he was a butterfly and woke unsure which was the dream. The border between imagining and being is thinner than the waking mind admits.

Tibetan Buddhism · dream yoga

Practitioners train to stay aware inside dreams, because what the mind can shape there is the same stuff it shapes everywhere. The soft edge of sleep is the workshop.

Sufism · Rumi

The truest things arrive when the arguing mind goes quiet, at night, in pictures rather than arguments. Listen there.
