Numbers 33:55 Meaning But If You Do Not Drive Out

But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then those you let remain of them will be like pricks in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land in which you dwell.

Half a victory is not a smaller victory, it is a slow defeat that arrives inside the reward.

Nothing kept back stays the size it was when it was kept. A tolerated thing has its own aims and works on a person daily; daily friction sets the baseline state, the baseline state sets what someone is capable of feeling inside their own home, and a person can win the territory and still live badly in it.

Eyes and sides are where the damage lands: vision and forward movement, the two capacities a mission runs on. Yahweh is describing arithmetic, not punishment. A person who will not finish the clearing spends the rest of the occupancy managing what one decision would have ended.

Live Numbers 33:55 today

  1. Name the one thing you keep telling yourself you will handle later, the unopened bill, the app you reinstall, the drawer, and finish it today instead of managing it again.
  2. Have the short conversation you have been avoiding with someone close, the one you keep working around, so it stops costing you a little every week.
  3. When you are tired and tempted to leave the last ten percent of something undone, finish it now rather than paying for it every day you walk past it.

What am I tolerating that is quietly setting the temperature of my whole life?
