Numbers 7:88 Meaning And All the Cattle for the Sacrifice

and all the cattle for the sacrifice of peace offerings: twenty-four bulls, sixty rams, sixty male goats, and sixty male lambs a year old. This was the dedication offering of the altar, after it was anointed.

What does Numbers 7:88 mean?

The whole count moves toward one place: the altar is the head, the skull, and the anointing that finishes it is spirit poured into the brain where the Christ-force sits. Everything offered before that moment is what a person burns out of the lower nature to make the head fit for that oil.

The whole count moves toward one place: the altar is the head, the skull, and the anointing that finishes it is spirit poured into the brain where the Christ-force sits. Everything offered before that moment is what a person burns out of the lower nature to make the head fit for that oil. The oxen and bullocks are the raw power of the flesh and the lower mind; the he goats are the stubborn carnal appetite that will not bend; and their surrender is the peace offering, the quiet that comes when the animal in a person stops fighting.

The rams are divine thought and the lambs are the pineal gland, the light-receiver deep in the head. The number 24 sets the frame of a whole cosmic order brought to rest in one skull. When the flesh is spent and thought is given and the pineal is opened, the head is anointed, and the higher power finally has a clean vessel to live in.

Altar: the head, the skull, the seat of the Christ-force in a person Ox: the raw power of the flesh and the lower animal mind Bullock: the same brute lower force offered up to be spent He goat: the stubborn carnal appetite that resists the higher will Ram: divine thought rising in the mind Lamb: the pineal gland, the light-receiver set deep in the head 24: the full cosmic order brought to rest inside one person Oil: spirit, the anointing photon poured into the opened brain

Live Numbers 7:88 today

  1. Pick the appetite that argues loudest when you try to be still, the phone, the snack, the second drink, and say no to it once today without making a speech about it. One quiet refusal teaches you more than a month of plans.
  2. Next time someone close to you says something that makes your chest go tight, let the first hot reply die in your mouth. The peace in the room afterward is made of exactly what you did not say.
  3. Before a meeting or a hard call, take thirty seconds with your eyes closed and your feet flat on the floor. Walking in with a settled head is worth more than the three extra points you were going to make.

Which appetite in me is still fighting, and what would it cost me to let it rest?

Katha Upanishad

The senses are strong horses and the body the chariot, and the one who holds the reins rather than being dragged becomes steady enough to receive what steadiness reveals. The animal strength is not killed, it is harnessed.

Buddhism · Dhammapada

A tamed mind brings happiness no untamed mind can reach. The long, unglamorous work of training the appetites is what finally makes a clear mind possible.

Stoicism · Epictetus

You cannot learn what you already think you know, and you cannot be filled while you are full. The vessel has to be emptied and cleaned before anything worth holding is poured in.
