To live is Christ means the true life of a person is the anointed awareness itself, the awakened higher consciousness that is the only thing worth calling alive. Christ is not a man but the risen state within, the oil-anointed faculty that lifts the whole being into its divine identity. To die is gain because the death here is the letting-go of the lower separate self, the small personal life that must be surrendered for the greater one to fill everything. When a person counts the passing of the outer nature as pure profit, it is because the inner Christ-consciousness has become so real that losing the flesh-bound self is felt not as loss but as release into the fuller life already known within.

Ikhlāṣ: Sincerity Sincerity means one aim running through everything a person does. Someone who has come that far stops sorting life into what counts and what does not, since all of it gets spent the same way. Their work, their friendships, and their worst days are handed to the same person.

Fanāʾ: The self passing away Fanāʾ names the point where a person stops being the center of their own story. If someone asks what their life is for, they do not mention their plans, their name, or how things worked out for them. Their own comfort has quietly stopped being the measure of a good day.

Baqāʾ: Abiding in God Abiding follows that emptying, and the person keeps living, working, and showing up for others. From outside nothing looks unusual, since the ordinary days go on as before. The difference sits underneath, in whose life they take themselves to be spending.

Whoever loves to meet God, God loves to meet him: dying becomes a meeting A saying of the Prophet puts the longing on both sides. Someone who has wanted one person above everything for years stops seeing the end of life as pure loss. Losing the rest of what they had weighs less with them than finally being with the one they wanted.

Riḍā: Contentment with God's choosing Contentment is the settled willingness to take whichever way things go. A person in that state can hold two very different futures, more years of work or the end of them, without gripping either one. Their peace does not depend on which arrives, so waiting to find out costs them nothing.

Live Philippians 1:21 today

  1. Pick one thing you defend about yourself, the image, the record, the way you want to be seen, and let it go unguarded for a day. See how much life is still there without it.
  2. Let someone misunderstand you and do not correct them. No clarifying text, no last reply in the thread. The part of you that dies there was never the part that was alive.
  3. When a deadline or a hard conversation has your chest tight, ask what is actually threatened. Usually it is the smaller self, and the rest of you is fine.

What in you could fall away today without touching what is actually alive?
