Philippians 3:15 Meaning Let Us Therefore

Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, think this way. If in anything you think otherwise, God will also reveal that to you.

What does Philippians 3:15 mean?

The completed ones already hold the higher way of thinking, and where any part of a person still holds a lower mind, the inner light itself will open that place. Perfect here means finished or brought to full growth, the ripening of consciousness rather than a flawless record, so the ripened mind naturally takes on the elevated view.

Esoteric

The completed ones already hold the higher way of thinking, and where any part of a person still holds a lower mind, the inner light itself will open that place. Perfect here means finished or brought to full growth, the ripening of consciousness rather than a flawless record, so the ripened mind naturally takes on the elevated view. Where a person is turned some other way, still caught in a lower reasoning, the divine within does not condemn it but uncovers it, bringing that hidden angle up into awareness so it can be seen and raised.

What happens inside is a gradual disclosure: the finer intelligence reveals to a person the very places where the old mind still rules, and by seeing them they are drawn toward the fuller state.

Live Philippians 3:15 today

  1. When you catch yourself in an old reaction today, the defensive reply, the same small jealousy, do not pile on about it. Just let yourself see it clearly. The seeing is the work.
  2. Ask one person you trust what they think you keep missing. Then do not argue with the answer, just let it sit in you for a day.
  3. Under pressure, when you snap at a colleague or a kid, go back later and look honestly at what was running you. Not to flog yourself, just to get a good look at it.

What have you been shown about yourself lately that you have not let yourself look at?

The same truth in other traditions

Zen

The teacher does not shame the student for not seeing, they simply turn the lamp. What was hidden becomes obvious, and nothing had to be forced.

Tao Te Ching 64

A tall tree grows from a tiny shoot, and what is ripe arrives in its own time. Pushing growth faster only breaks it.

Stoicism · Epictetus

No one is wrong on purpose. When you see where you have been mistaken, that seeing is itself the correction.
