He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.

Proverbs 11:27 · World English Bible
He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.
A mind finds what it is looking for, because seeking is not neutral but a decision about which teacher to follow. The one who searches for good has already chosen love as his guide, and love shows him a world worthy of the search.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
A mind finds what it is looking for, because seeking is not neutral but a decision about which teacher to follow. The one who searches for good has already chosen love as his guide, and love shows him a world worthy of the search. The one who hunts for wrong is following fear, and fear is faithful; it delivers exactly the threat the mind went looking for, then presents it as though it arrived on its own. What comes to a mind was called by the eyes that scanned for it.
Seeking is the mind choosing its own experience in advance. It will always be answered in the language it used to ask.
There is no true symbol to decode here; the seeker of good and the seeker of harm are directions of the mind, not images.

CYBERNETICS
A person tends to find whatever they set their inner sights to seek, because the mechanism scans the world for matches to the picture it carries. Someone who looks steadily for good keeps turning up openings and kindness, since attention aimed at good keeps meeting it.
The same machinery serves the one who watches for trouble, and it faithfully delivers what was sought. A man expecting slights collects them all day, not by bad luck but by aim. The seeking is what settles the finding. When the inner search is fixed on good, favor is what the mechanism keeps bringing home.

SELF-HELP
A man gets what he goes looking for, because the looking changes his behavior long before it changes his luck.
The person who asks what is working here, who needs help, what can be built, spends their days pointed at the people and situations that answer those questions. Favor looks like luck landing on someone; it accumulates because years of that aim made them the kind of presence others want to hand things to.
The reverse runs on identical machinery. A man searching for betrayal interrogates, withdraws, and tests the people closest to him, and the mischief he was watching for shows up on schedule, built partly by the watching. Drop that question and the evidence for it stops arriving, though the habit will keep asking for a while.
Christian Psychology lens
What have I been scanning for lately, and did I find it because it was there or because I was looking?
The mind takes on the color of what it dwells on. Look for the fault in everyone and you will not fail to find it.
It is easy to see another's slip and hard to see your own. The searching eye finds what it was trained to find.
Ask the mountain an angry question and an angry mountain answers. The world gives back the face you brought to it.
