Christian Psychology

A mind is always filled by the teacher it keeps. The one who has turned back to the ego receives exactly what that choice contains, a fullness of its own fearful thoughts, for every path returns to the mind that walked it. Nothing is being done to such a mind from outside; it is simply living inside what it decided to believe.

The mind that has chosen love is likewise satisfied from within, needing nothing the world could add. Contentment was never a thing to be won out there. What you hold as your teacher is what you will be filled with, so the whole matter rests on that inner choice, and the peace you seek is drawn from the love already within you.

The heart is the center of a person's ruling desire, and to backslide in it is for consciousness to fall back toward the lower drives after having tasted something higher. Such a one is filled with his own ways: the mind that sinks becomes the product of its own repeated grooves, fed only by the habits it keeps circling. A person becomes the sum of what they continually turn toward inside.

The good man, the integrated self whose faculties are ordered and whole, is satisfied from himself because his fullness rises from within rather than being drawn from outside. Both figures are filled from the same source, their own inner state, but one circles downward into its patterns and the other draws up from its own settled depth. What a person consumes inwardly is exactly what they come to be.

Live Proverbs 14:14 today

  1. Watch what you feed yourself today: the feeds, the news, the inner commentary. You will be full of whatever you keep taking in.
  2. Before you ask someone for reassurance today, pause and see whether you can give yourself the honest version of it first. Then talk to them anyway if you want to, just not from empty.
  3. When a day goes badly and you want to blame the day, ask what you were carrying into it before any of it happened. That part travels with you into tomorrow too.

What have I been filling myself with, and is it what I actually want to be full of?

The one who knows what is enough is already rich. Contentment is a decision made inside, never a quantity reached outside.
