Proverbs 14:25 Meaning A Truthful Witness Saves Souls

A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.

What does Proverbs 14:25 mean?

Every mind is a witness, testifying at each moment to one of two teachers, and what it testifies to is what it will see. A true witness speaks for love, and its testimony sets minds free, because to look on a brother and call him innocent is to deliver both of them from the guilt that seemed to bind them.

Every mind is a witness, testifying at each moment to one of two teachers, and what it testifies to is what it will see. A true witness speaks for love, and its testimony sets minds free, because to look on a brother and call him innocent is to deliver both of them from the guilt that seemed to bind them.

The false witness speaks for fear and calls the dream real, insisting the wrong actually happened and the guilt actually holds. This is the lie, not a wickedness to be condemned but a mistake to be corrected, and the correction is simply to become the other kind of witness, one who looks and sees no sin, and by that seeing lets everyone go.

True witness: the part of the mind that testifies for love and frees whatever it looks upon by seeing it innocent Deceitful witness: the part of the mind that testifies for fear, calling the dream real and the guilt binding

When a person tells the truth in a moment that matters, someone else is pulled back from the edge of ruin. A word spoken accurately in court, in a marriage, or across a kitchen table can be the thing that saves a life from wreckage. The honest witness carries weight because the world he describes can be trusted and acted upon.

The liar does the opposite work. He hands the people who rely on him a distorted map and lets them walk it toward the cliff. Speaking straight keeps other people from falling. Honesty holds up a life that is not even your own.

Live Proverbs 14:25 today

  1. When a story about someone you know starts running in your head today, pause it and finish the thought differently: picture them as someone doing their best with what they have. Hold that picture for a few breaths before you move on.
  2. In one conversation today, speak about a third person as if they were in the room and could hear you. No shading, no small dig, no knowing look.
  3. When someone cuts you off in traffic or snaps in a meeting, try the gentlest explanation that still fits the facts. You will not be able to prove it, and you do not need to.

What would change in your day if the person who irritates you most turned out to be innocent?

How you look decides what stands in front of you. A teacher who meets a student as already whole calls that wholeness forward, while one who meets him as broken keeps him broken.

The sage treats the good as good and treats the untrustworthy as good as well, and in being met that way people become what they were met as.

What you carry inside is what you find outside. Hold a mirror of blame and the world turns ugly, hold a clear one and the same world shows its face as kind.
