What does Proverbs 16:10 mean?

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

When a mind is settled in love, what it speaks carries a rightness not its own. The awakened part of a mind does not strain to judge; it lets a truer Voice decide, and so its verdicts do not wander into error. This is not a ruler cleverer than others but a mind that has stopped consulting fear before it speaks.

Judgment goes wrong only when guilt does the deciding, twisting every reading of a brother into accusation. A mind aligned with love no longer sees an enemy to condemn, so its speech cannot transgress; there is nothing left in it to attack with. What sounds like flawless justice is simply a mind that has changed the teacher behind its words.

King: the awakened part of a mind that has learned to rule from love, the settled inner authority that speaks for truth. Mouth: the expression of a mind, the speech that stays true only while a wiser Voice decides behind it.

  1. Before you send the message you have been composing in your head all morning, read it once as if you were the person receiving it.
  2. When someone tells you something hard about their life, resist the verdict that is already forming. Ask one more question instead.
  3. In a tense call or a group chat going sideways, wait three seconds before you type. Fear writes fast, and almost everything it writes you will want to delete.

When I spoke sharply this week, what was deciding my words before I said them?

The still water is the one that reflects clearly. A mind churned up by its own moods cannot show anything as it is.

Buddhism · Right Speech

Before you speak, ask if it is true, kind, and the right moment. Words that pass those gates rarely need taking back.
