To keep the one instruction of love is simply to guard the mind's own wholeness, because the self that is protected here is not a body but the awareness that it was never truly separate. A mind that holds to that gentler law stays awake to what it is.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
To keep the one instruction of love is simply to guard the mind's own wholeness, because the self that is protected here is not a body but the awareness that it was never truly separate. A mind that holds to that gentler law stays awake to what it is. To despise one's ways is to keep choosing the ego's road of judgment and attack, and the death that follows is not an ending of life but the deadness of a mind asleep to love, convinced it is alone.
Nothing outside decides this. The choice is made within, and it is only ever between remembering what one is and forgetting it a little longer.
Christian Psychology lens
When I follow the kinder road, what is it actually protecting in me?
Mind is the forerunner of all things, and what we think, we become. Guarding your thinking is not a rule, it is self preservation.
Asked for the whole teaching in one line, Hillel said, do not do to another what you would hate done to you. Everything else is commentary.
The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Keep choosing resentment and you do not get revenge, you get a resentful life.
