Proverbs 2:12 Meaning To Deliver You From the Way

to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things,

What does Proverbs 2:12 mean?

The evil man is not a stranger on the road but a way of thinking the mind can wander into, the whole habit of seeing threat outside and answering it with attack. His twisted speech is the ego's argument, forever whispering that another is guilty and safety lies in judgment.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The evil man is not a stranger on the road but a way of thinking the mind can wander into, the whole habit of seeing threat outside and answering it with attack. His twisted speech is the ego's argument, forever whispering that another is guilty and safety lies in judgment.

Deliverance is simple, though it seldom feels so. A mind is freed from this figure the instant it recognizes the voice as its own fear dressed up as an enemy, and turns instead to the Teacher who speaks only of innocence.

Evil man: a direction of thought the mind can enter, the belief that danger lives outside and must be met with attack. Froward things: the ego's argument spoken within, the case for another's guilt that hides the mind's own fear.

  1. When the angry inner monologue starts up on the drive, name it for what it is: fear with a good vocabulary. You do not have to argue with it, just stop taking dictation.
  2. Before you forward the screenshot or add to the pile-on in the group chat, stop. That pull to prove someone guilty is never actually about them.
  3. In the tense meeting, when the voice in you says this person is out to get you, treat that voice as the thing to question, not the person. Ask what you are actually afraid of losing.

Whose voice is it, really, when your mind tells you someone is against you?
