CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The mind is shown the true order of things, that the inner correction comes before any structure the world can offer. The field is where the real labor is done, the ground of thought itself, and it must be readied first. To build the house before the field is tended is to try to make a life secure on the outside while the mind is still ruled by fear.

The healing of perception always comes first. Once the field has chosen love as its teacher, everything built afterward rests on ground that will hold, because the outer only ever reflects what the inner has already settled.

The field: the ground of the mind itself, the inner soil of thought that must be prepared before anything true can grow. Thine house: the outer life and its structures, which can only stand securely once the mind's ground has been healed first.

Live Proverbs 24:27 today

  1. Before the first email or message today, take two quiet minutes with no screen in your hands. Let the inside get sorted before the outside starts asking.
  2. Before a conversation you are dreading, settle your own intention first. Decide you want it to go well for both of you, then walk in.
  3. When a day starts running you, stop the doing for a moment and work on the ground instead of the house. One slow breath, one honest look at what you are actually afraid of, and then continue.

Am I trying to arrange my life from the outside while the inside is still unsettled?

The roots come before the branches. Tend what is below the surface and what grows above will stand on its own.

Buddhism · Dhammapada 1

Everything begins in the mind. What you do and what you build follow the thought that went first, like the wheel following the ox.

Stoicism · Epictetus

First settle what you will be, then take up what you will do. Reverse the order and the work carries all your unsettledness with it.
