What does Proverbs 27:26 mean?

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

What a mind tends within itself becomes the very thing that provides for it. The gentle thoughts it has kept and cared for return as covering and warmth, clothing it against the cold of a fearful world. And the ground it stands on, its sense of a settled place to be, is purchased not by anything the world hands over but by what love has already grown quietly inside it.

So a mind is never provided for from outside. Its shelter and its footing come up out of its own tended thoughts, given back to it as everything it needs.

Lambs: the gentle thoughts a mind has cared for, which return as covering and warmth against a fearful world Goats: the tended contents of the mind that purchase its footing, the inner provision that buys a settled place to stand Field: the ground a mind stands on, its sense of a secure place to be, bought by what love has grown within

Live Proverbs 27:26 today

  1. Think of one steady, good thought you have been keeping for years, about a person, about yourself, about how life works. See how much of today it is quietly holding up.
  2. Say the kind thing you have been thinking about someone and never said out loud. It costs nothing and it furnishes a room you both live in.
  3. In a tense moment at work, reach for the calm you built on all the ordinary days. That is what those days were for, and it is there.

What have you been growing in yourself without realizing you would one day need it?

Dhammapada 1

We are made of our thoughts; what we become grows out of what we have been thinking. The mind shapes its own weather.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Nowhere is quieter than a person's own mind, and you can step into it any hour. The shelter you are looking for is already yours and furnished by you.

Hinduism · Upanishads

What you deeply want, you become. The life you stand in grows out of the wanting you have fed.
